There is something about Scranton that makes it special. It is not a big city but there are a lot of fun and great activities you can do in this humble city, located in the heart of the state. It is a small city that has a great history. 

Montage Mountain Ski Resort

Montage Mountain Ski resort is a fun and exciting option for the whole family. It has Pennsylvania's largest snow tubing trails. They also have the Montage Mountain Waterpark situated in the ski grounds. It features six water attractions which include the lazy river, water slides, and a wave pool. If you do not want to soak in the water, you can try mini golf, beach volleyball, and batting cages.

Everhart Museum 

Named after the famous Scranton physician Dr. Isaiah Fawkes Everhart, the museum features art, science, and natural history exhibits. It also provides hands-on educational activities for K-12 students. There are also adult education and summer camps available in the museum. The museum organizes an annual Farm to table meal event in September.

Electric City Trolley Station and Museum

Visitors will find this activity interesting. They will be educated that trolleys used to be the main transport system in different towns. However, they are no longer seen in most cities nowadays. There are still operational trolleys in Scranton where people can ride on. Although the trolleys do not go over the whole city anymore, people can still find it nice to ride them during a warm day.

Houdini Museum

The museum honors Harry Houdini who is a well-known illusionist and magician in the world. The museum features posters, pictures, and other artifacts from his life and career. The tour would include a film and a live magic show by Dorothy Dietrich and Dick Brooks. It is a popular attraction among visitors, so it is recommended to have reservations by calling the museum.

Lackawanna River Heritage Trail

Lackawanna River Heritage Trail is perfect for running, walking, and cycling because much of the trail is paved. You can enjoy the beautiful woodland view alongside the trail. The trail stretches for 70 miles with interesting points where it passes. Different clean-up activities are held by various groups in the area, all year round.

Nay Aug Park

If you want to escape the busy city life and enjoy nature, Nay Aug Park is the best option. It is the largest park in Scranton and it has nicely manicured trails and picnic sites for the visitors to use. The trail passes through streams, rocky gorges, and breathtaking waterfalls. Lackawanna County Coal Min

Coal mining is a fundamental part of Pennsylvania for many decades. Guests can explore the underground trail and experience what mining is like through this tour. They will descend to the 300 feet underground by an elevator and move past three veins of coal. During the tour, guides will explain the history of mining and the methods and equipment they used through the years.
