Appliance Moving

Are you moving into a new place? You probably are going to keep some of your old appliances. However, moving them can be challenging, not to mention exhausting. Proper planning is important for a successful moving process. Use these tips for an easier moving experience.

Make Wise Decisions

If you have an appliance that you use for business or hobby, it makes sense that you keep it to your new home. However, you have to remove these appliances you put your home on sale. Prospective buyers may get disappointed when they do not see the items they first saw when inspecting the house.

You also have to consider if your new home has the right tools for your appliances. Your water, electric and gas supplies should match the needs of your appliances. If not, it will be useless to have them in your new home.

Measure Your Home

Measuring the space in your new place is important to avoid damages on walls and floors. You have to make sure that your old appliances will fit in your new home. Measure the dimensions of all the appliances you plan to bring. Make sure that you take note of these measurements. The next step is to measure the doorways and other places where the appliances will pass through. You will be able to find out the easiest ways to move the appliances around with the combined measurements of openings and appliances. When you are sure that your appliances or furniture cannot fit into your new home, it may be unwise to still bring them in.

Prepare Your Appliances in Advance

Before the scheduled day of relocation, you should have prepared all your appliances, especially those that use electricity. Clean these items beforehand using the right cleaning equipment. Don't try to move heavy equipment because it can damage the floor.
You can use a piece of cardboard or carpet under the front of a huge appliance to slide it to a different position. Do not forget to turn off the main power supply before unplugging large appliances.

Pay Attention to Details

Avoid bending, breaking or removing plug parts of large appliances. After unplugging the appliance, remove the power cable. Secure the plug end in bubble tape and use packing tape to wrap it. Carefully wrap all of the cables and secure it inside or the back of the appliance.  If you need help with appliance plugs, you can use professional help to set up the new plugs for the holder.

Before moving, you have to make sure you scheduled a day for disconnection of propane-fueled appliances. Local gas companies provide their customers with this service. Doing this alone may not be the best idea because disconnecting gas lines can be dangerous. If not done properly, it can cause health and property hazard.

Keep the sides and backs of your appliances neat to avoid bringing them to your new home. Check that all tubing, plugs, and manuals are secured before loading them to the truck.
